Melanie McEwan

Melanie McEwan is the not only the founder of House of Beauty but is also a very talented Beauty and Paramedical Therapist with a strong foundation of over 20 years practical experience and training.

Initially qualifying in Chester, Melanie then spread her wings and travelled the world by land and sea. Based in Bangkok for over a year, Melanie performed many skin revision treatments while she was there, expanding her knowledge and expertise in skin revision thus soon becoming her forte. Then it was on to the world famous QE2 to sail the seas and expand her knowledge and experience even further, before settling in Dumfries to fulfil her dream of opening her own salon in 1995.

Melanie has built a profile over the years as a leading innovative business woman, with a keen eye for new treatments and clinical therapies, this has led to her immense following of loyal clientèle.

Melanie has gained a successful reputation and respect from fellow colleagues in the Beauty and Clinical industries over the years by working with Danne Skin revision treatments and working closely with our Nurse Suzanne Armstrong to produce fantastic visual results.

Melanie’s speciality is skin analysis, by utilising the unique Danne pharmaceutical grade concept and bespoke treatment strategies Melanie can transform any skin condition with amazing results.

Jenni Bagley (Business Development Manager)

Jenni Bagley has over 20 years of experience in salon management and business development. Jenni is a valuable asset to House of Beauty over the past 10 years. Jenni has been largely involved in setting up of salon procedures and training and team development.

Initially trained in Carlisle, Jenni then built up her clientèle and career in Beauty and Management in Dumfries and Galloway.

This experienced beauty expert is competent in all aspects of Beauty Therapy but is also highly skilled in the more holistic side of therapies and massage and works at a very high level with Reiki/Seichem. Focusing on body emotions, energy balancing and the philosophy of how negative thought patterns and stored emotions can have a negative effect on our bodies ,through gentle Reiki/Seichem sessions Jenni can help to restore the balance needed between mind, body and spirit. Jenni is the only Qualified Reiki/Seichem practitioner in the salon and is also preparing for Master level seichem , Jenni is also competent in LHE and the Danne Skin revision treatments.

Ann Halliday (Salon Manager)

Ann Halliday has over 19 years of Salon experience and a good. Loyal clientèle. Having initially trained in Glasgow, Ann then went onto develop her expertise in Salons and health spas throughout Scotland.

Ann has worked with House of Beauty now for 8 years and maintains the smooth daily running of the salon.

Ann is also our resident massage guru who boasts a firm touch which has led to her huge following of Massage and Reflexology clients, Ann likes nothing more than to work on releasing tension and alleviating pain. An immediate salvation for tired muscles.

Ann stands out for her attention to detail, but it is her comfortable manner and approachable attitude which keeps the clients coming back for more.

Ann is also competent in all the other therapies available including LHE and the Danne Skin revision treatments.

Zoe Mensdorf (Senior Therapist)

Zoe has over 16 year salon experience in all aspects of Beauty Therapy having gained a wealth of experience in some of the other leading salons in Dumfries and Galloway. Zoe has a zest for life and her lively personality keeps her clients coming back time and time again. Zoe is more than competent in a multitude of Beauty treatments including manicures, pedicures and facials. Zoe has a good following of clients and a particular skill for waxing to guarantee a relaxed and informal session keeping pain and discomfort to a minimum!

Zoe is also renowned for her deep tissue massage techniques for those with a physical strain or stressed out bodies. Zoe’s approach is firm but fair and her clients always leave the treatment room feeling calm and tension free. Zoe is also competent in all the other therapies available, including Danne skin revision treatments.

Karen Martin (Senior Therapist)

Karen has been qualified now for over 10 years and been a loyal part of the team for 8 of those years. Karen is a lively character with a positive outlook to life and takes great pride in her work. Karen listens closely to her clients, providing a very personal service and ensuring that each person leaves the salon completely fulfilled.

Karen loves all aspects of Beauty Therapy but especially the pampering facials and body treatments we have to offer. Karen likes to nurture and you will be completely at ease in these experienced hands. Karen is also competent in LHE and Danne skin revision treatments.

Sheila Clark (Reception /Accounts manager)

Sheila has been a valuable part of the House of Beauty team now for 9 years. With several years of office based skills and public relations under her belt, Sheila can organise client appointments , take calls and bookings and deal with the general direction of staff and clients. Sheila s exceptional organisational skills and forward thinking is a credit to her list of capabilities. As you enter the reception and are met by Sheila the friendliness and the ambience you experience will certainly impress you, nothing is a bother or an inconvenience whatever your needs Sheila will endeavour to accommodate.

Hayley Robson (Therapist)

Hayley is one of the youngest of the Therapy team and has been with House of Beauty for 3 years. An aspiring young lady, with a keen eye, precise touch and keen desire to learn. Hayley enjoys all aspects of Beauty Therapy especially nail treatments , whether it be nail extensions, pedicures, gels or a quick polish, Hayley’s attention to detail will give your hands or feet the perfect finish. Hayley’s warming smile and precise touch will make you more than keen to return for more.

Rebecca McKenna (Beauty Therapy Student)

Beauty student Rebecca has only been with House of Beauty for a short period but has already won the hearts of the clients with her bubbly personality and charming nature and will do her best to cater to the clients every need. From reception duties and room servicing to advising the clients Rebecca loves the variety in her busy day. This bright , keen young lady is on the right path to becoming a confident Beauty Therapist.

Leah Sassoon (Therapist)

Five years qualified Leah is a vibrant young lady with a keen eye for detail and a passion for Health and fitness, she enjoys giving advice on all aspects of Health and Beauty but especially advising the clients on toning and shaping the body. Leah also enjoys performing a wide range of treatments including facials, massage and hand and foot treatments. Leah has been with the House of Beauty for 2 years and is looking forward to progressing her knowledge even further.
